Solar Quote

Postby DazSim » Sat Mar 28, 2015 7:11 pm

Hi, I have just been quoted $15500.00 (net of STC allowance) to install a 4.5kw PV system using a ABB Aurora Inverter (4.2kw) and 18 x Phono Solar panels. The system is to be mounted on a flat patio roof with east west aspect, there are no issues with access etc and the installer said that it was a text book installation. I'm from Brisbane. This quote seems excessive considering Ive checked the Residential PV Solar Price Index for March 2015 which lists the average 4kw system should be around $6568 for Brisbane. I would appreciate any advice or comments.

Cheers

That sounds way OTT for a 4.5kW system, see EM's Qld prices here:

The quote was from Sunsource Group. I wont name the sales rep but as soon as I flicked him an email asking why the quote was so expensive and providing him with some data all he could manage to say was that "I clearly spoke about the quality of the product and the professionalism / warranties of such a large company...Presently we are talking about doing what you need to be done properly with no deposit and no interest funding which is considerably less than what you are currently paying. With the greatest of respect mate you might feel more comfortable with going down the hardware store and rolling the dice." quote un quote.

There was no attempt to answer my question or address my concerns.

These guys should be ashamed of themselves. They obviously don't think that people have any common sense or the ability to question their statements and claims.
