Here's a simple disinfectant you can make:

Mix 50 ml of eucalyptus oil with a litre of water. Store it as you would a normal disinfectant.

Eucalyptus oil has so many other uses too:

- remove sticker residue from glass.

- Add 1-2 teaspoonfuls of eucalyptus oil to your wash - helps kill some nasties and leaves a nice scent.

- Remove paint, grease and ink from clothes.

- Reviving dead car air fresheners.

- Cleaning stainless steel

Thanks Michael for this post,

I am only a young guy and know nothing as far as home made cleaning products go, although i would like to learn.

I hope many people contribute to this thread as my house cleaning methods could use a bit of a boost lol

Especially if anyone knows something natural that is good for cleaning off the black ring around your bath. i hate to use the strong corrosive cleaning products you see everywhere but its really tough work using washing up liquid and warm water :S

Hi Millsy,

A bit of baking soda applied to a damp sponge should do the trick in dealing with rings on a bath. The baking soda is abrasive, but not so much so it will damage the enamel. Spot test first of course :)

You're too kind Max :)

I'm no guru though folks, I'm just someone learning about lightening my environmental footprint and writing about it as I go :).
