More setbacks

Any solar business that has survived till now, and can survive through all this, will be a formidable entity indeed :!:

Now they want a bond!

Sometimes I wish I could be off government as well as off grid :x

.
Did you hear the 2GB radio comments suggesting that the CEC was "Concerned that PV installations could also cause similar problems" to those of the Insulation Industry.

Whilst being reported on Radio, the CEC strangely declares:
No house fires caused by solar panels - CEC Statement

http://www.cleanenergycouncil.org.au/cec/home.html

Could it be that there is some furphys being spread in the background...
..some political interference.... .. a pre-emptive attack...
..Prior to declaring the Solar Credits closed for safety review..??? :(

The ABC’s “investigation” into solar panel installations has fingered the embattled environment minister for putting about 2000 homes at risk of electrical fire by incorrectly installing the panels. Garrett’s fortunes — already under fire over deadly home fires sparked by roof insulation —  “appear to be going from bad to worse” the AM program declared this morning.

Kevin cRudd strikes again perhaps?

Adds a new meaning to his claim "The BUCK$ stop here" . posting.php?mode=reply&f=10&t=791#

"The mere thought hadn't even begun to speculate, about the merest possibility of crossing my mind." (Mr L Prosser)

What is that burning smell? ............Is that oil or coal? :?:

I am starting to believe that there is much substance in the following quote:

~ "The issue is not whether you are paranoid, the issue is whether you are paranoid enough." :?

One of our state Solar Hot Water managers has been talking to colleagues within both the manufacturing and plumbing industry commission arenas this afternoon and it is still unclear whether issues such as the reregistration and bond also apply to plumbers installing Solar Hot Water.

The thought is that in the Government's haste to get all this announced there has been a few mixups in what new guidelines belong to what in terms of solar hot water and insulation - with the latter being where the big OH&S and general safety issues have been such a problem.

We have already had an update this evening about transition arrangements for those folks who have ordered or paid for solar hot water systems but haven't yet had them installed - that wasn't clear either during the initial announcement.

We'll be keeping our news item of earlier today updated as new information becomes available:

and there's a discussion regarding the news also here:
