Lithium batteries

Postby zap » Thu Jun 10, 2021 1:29 pm

I have a tiny solar panel designed to charge nicad batteries for overnight lighting but the nicads died so i hooked up some 18650 of similar voltage directly to the connections and it is working but i am worried about the fact that the li-ion batteries may swell up or even overheat. Does anyone think it would be safe to leave them as there are ? The voltage is very low 3.6v and the led lights are very light draw. it was designed to run on AA nicads about 2000ma now on a pair of 18650 with total of 4400ma. Should i just go back to nicads?
