CEC now has a Home Battery Quality Assurance Program

Postby Gordon-Loomberah » Wed Oct 10, 2018 3:29 pm

The Clean Energy Council, along with organisations such as CSIRO and Smart Energy Council have produced a battery quality assurance program that should help to ensure rooftop solar and solar battery installations in Australia provide consumers with the best in products and service standards.

Only products meeting the required standards for quality and electricity safety will qualify for the home battery quality program.

At the moment, only 4 brands appear to be listed, and most of the individual batteries listed are from sonnen, so I assume it is a work in progress.

that CEC website is like walking around in quicksand.

i am just wondering what the legal situation is with that CEC. according to knowledgeable davidg they do not mean anything at all unless you want the rebate. if i understand correctly.

Was the case, now that they have INJECTED themselves along with distributors requiring more info in relation to batteries for new systems in this area (self preservation, will increase costs), you will see battery pricing go up in cost for grid interconnected systems at the very least.

SPS (Standalone Power Systems) fortunately are likely to be beyond their control for the most part. If you want STC's which are slowly but surely going away. Clown corp are painful and add to the costs to the detriment of systems, good installation practice is just that, they charge a small fortune for each product they "approve" and so on, it should keep some of the costs up for the foreseeable future.
