Has anyone applied for this yet? Any catches with it? Any other retailers offering it yet?

The issue I see with this plan that reduces it’s value is that the peak rate of 29 cents/kWh exported is only paid on weekdays, and then between the hours of 3PM and 9PM.

I am with AGL, and am paid 20 cents for every kWh exported, all day, and including weekends. This rate results in me getting far more money for my exported electricity than the Energy Australia variable FIT rate will give me.

The AGL deal sounds pretty good in comparison. The 29c/kWh after 3pm on weekdays represents only a small percentage of potential total exports from a typical system with north-facing panels.

I have 3.5kW of panels facing east, 2.5kW north, but I have over 7kW facing west, and I cannot produce enough export after 3PM to make Energy Australia’s variable time FIT attractive in comparison to the AGL offering.

The Essential Services Commission may extend the TOU scheme after one year of operation depending on its assessment.

You would not want to be investing, based on the offer..
it strikes me that IF they have only gone for one year - they are NOT SERIOUS..
The scheme would not really get going in that time, and have any impact..
