I am totally flabbergasted at the $20 deduction made from my Credit Card from Simply Energy for absolutely no reason!! I have no affiliation whatsoever! I live in NSW, and this "energy company" only operate in VIC and SA. How can our country allow this sort of behavior? It is painful, annoying, time wasting, and unfair. For a young family like mine, we have enough financial stress to deal with without dealing with added stresses like these. I have had to cancel our credit card and reorginise our finances for the month, and also now need to contact all those who direct debit from our account with new details....not to mention trying to get my $20 back! Why cant these people make their money the good old fashioned way....with hard work and honesty??!!??
I am yet to find it myself, but my Mum assured me that she found posts on the internet last night with another complaint like mine. If you have a problem, post it here because we need to stand up to these people and make others aware!
Good luck to those who are fighting for fairness.

They haven't told me yet....do you think they will? I would be surprised if they did! They just told me yesterday it will take 2 weeks to locate the payment and refund the money into my bank account. When I told them I had cancelled my credit card, they asked for my new credit card details. Of course I didn't give it to them. They finally apologised but have not told me how this has happened. Is uppose they can't until they find the payment. I don't trust the situation. They would have needed all of my details to make the payment including name, card number and expiration date, plus I should have been registered as a client of their to authorise a payment (which I clearly was not). So the way I see it, they are either completley dodgy and taking money from people, or they have a dodgy security system where anyone can ring up and use someone elses credit card details to pay their own account. Either way I am definitley NOT happy. This should NOT be allowed!!!! :x

If you have not told them your CC details for any legitimate purpose, I think you should report it to Dept of Fair Trading, and also your CC provider- ask them how the payment was authorised, if not by you.

I have reported in to bank who have put through a dispute. I have also reported in with the ACCC. I suppose I should ring Dept of Fair trading and also the Energy Ombudsman?

Id report it to the police as well.
Sounds like credit card fraud to me, in which case you will need a police report reference to re-coupe your money from your financial institution.

I can not believe what some of these energy retailers get up to. :(
