Synergy wants to double fixed charges for solar.

Under a proposal by Synergy chairman Lyndon Rowe, home owners who have invested in solar technology could see their annual charges increase from around $820 to $1666.

Another cash grab from a power company, have they no shame. God forbid anyone earn money from the solar power other people use, and other companies make a profit on.

Nice scam by the way, charge the person who generates the power, then charge the end user as per usual.

what mr rowe says in plain english is this:
if you use much power >>> we do not want you
if you use little power >>> we do not want you
if you have solar power >>> we do not want you

so what does he want?
i suppose he wants everybody to go off grid
and save all the problems with unfair use of the grid
and cross subsidization
and then with the money saved, he will donate it to build schools .

I'd love to see some fact checker work done on some of Mr. Rowe's statements, basically his suggestion that solar is being subsidized by other users and tax payers.

On the positive side there was a news item this morning regarding the fact that the CSIRO are working on a big picture plan for the future electricity and the grid. This is long range stuff with a cost of a trillion dollars being mentioned. This is huge of course, so let's hope that the planning isn't left to those parts of the electricity supply chain whose sole interest is their own profits.

Since I only have a low power usage, even without solar currently, an extra $800 odd dollars on the bill will make batteries an even more attractive option.
