As instantaneous peak prices are not really relevant to the discussion, I did not bother to search for the very highest peak prices, but was in fact looking at average prices. On rereading my statement

I realise that I neglected to state "average" for the second price I quoted. It was, however, average prices to which I was referring.
And yes, there is a day in December 2009 when the NSW daily average (no doubt due to an outage or two) was up at $1.18kwh, however once again a single day does not justify the comment "If retailers can get their hands on extra electricity at about 90c/kW/Hr they would be very happy" when the average daily price is at about $0.03kwh.....
