This community is staffed by the team from Energy Matters; one of Australia's leading wind and solar power companies.
Through this forum, we aim to provide a comprehensive resource regarding renewable energy; powered by the extensive knowledge of our own staff and forum community members.
Whether you're a knowbie or a newbie to renewable energy, we welcome your questions and any contributions you can make to this community! If you see a question posted you'd like to help someone with, please feel free to post a reply in that thread
SPECIAL NOTE: Opinions of members expressed are not those of Energy Matters and Energy Matters will use its reasonable endeavours to remove offensive or defamatory material. Any abuse should be reported immediately using the "Report this post" button available at the top of each post.
Please observe the following guidelines as they help ensure a useful community resource
IMPORTANT: When seeking answers to technical issues, ensure that you provide as much information as possible; for example, instead of just stating you have an "SMA Inverter", include the model e.g. "SMA SB 1700". This will help you get quicker and more accurate feedback.
1. Posts must be made in the relevant category, with a relevant title. Please check for existing threads on the topic of interest before starting a new topic.
SPECIAL NOTE: The "Introduce yourself" category is just to say g'day and to showcase specs of your system if you have one. If you don't have a system, that's ok - you can still say hi to the community in that section
2. Please keep "on topic" when contributing to a thread. This keeps the discussion focused. Post a new topic to discuss other issues.
3. Do not cross post/multi-post, i.e. the same post in multiple areas of the forum.
4. When quoting from another member's post, don't quote the whole post, just the relevant comments.
5. Keep things friendly. Debate is welcome and encouraged but "ad hominem" arguments are not permitted:

Address the issue, don't attack the person. Insulting or snarky remarks about community members or moderators will not be tolerated. Don't let a single line in an otherwise useful post be the cause of your entire post being deleted by community moderators. Before hitting the submit button, please consider the tone of your message and how it may be interpreted by others.
6. Avoid straw man arguments and other fallacies when debating topics - this helps to maintain the quality of the information for others who will be reading the thread and helps to keep discussions friendly and on-topic:

7. Do not SHOUT (use all caps).
8. We wish to keep the community family-friendly. Offensive content or vulgar language is not permitted.
9. The copyright of others must be respected. Publishing of copyright material is prohibited.
10. Energy Matters reserves the right to edit, remove or put on moderation queue any post at any time.
11. Respect the decisions and guidance of community moderators. If you have concerns about particular community issues or decisions, PM one of the moderators rather than post publicly about it - there may be good reason behind a decision and creating unnecessary tension in the community through making incorrect assumptions or in a way that could cause instability serves no useful purpose.
12. Advertising is not permitted in these forums, aside from in the "Marketplace" section; however, businesses wishing to place an ad in the Marketplace section must first contact the forum administrator for approval. Individuals wishing to post a relevant ad in the Marketplace section do not need to contact the forum administrator before proceeding. When posting an ad in the marketplace section, you must represent the goods accurately and include a location. IMPORTANT : Energy Matters does not take any responsibility for transactions resulting from non-Energy Matters ads in the Marketplace section.
13. Members who are involved in the renewable energy or competing industries must not pose as or give the impression of just being consumers/interested parties when participating in discussions.
14. The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging
As the community evolves, so will these guidelines. Please remember to check these guidelines regularly for updates.
