Earth Power

There's more to renewable energy than just wind and solar power - hydro, wave, geothermal to name a few. Discuss these RE alternatives here!

Goodbye Gyro, have a nice day :)

Sure we're in the business of selling, we're pretty transparent about that. I think the big Energy Matters logos and advertising scattered around the forum is a good indicator :). If we can get more customers from having this forum, great - but it's not the only aim of us establishing this community.

We also wanted to demystify renewable energy and give people a place to ask their questions where they can receive answers from others who aren't trying to sell them anything.

The breadth of knowledge that has been shared in these forums already has been quite staggering; I've certainly learned a lot.

.. and while on the topic of education....

Gyro's post has raised an issue that's very important - there's so many information products around now about DIY solar, wind etc. and while it's certainly possible to build some of this equipment, some of the claims being made by those selling the information can be quite dubious.

Folks, I've started a thread here about the issue:

wind-solar-misc/topic394.html

Hoping some of you will participate in the discussion.

Well, what a coincidence... while out on a 84km ride on my mountain bike this morning I was thinking up some more fun to be had in this topic, and thought that it would probably be shut down soon, but I hoped it would be left as a warning for others ;)
Oh well, now that "Tony" has left us, there's not much point. I'll pop over to the new subject with some of my thoughts on these schemes though.

I ony work part time, and that's all night, so I have all my afternoons and many mornings free, so finding the time isnt difficult ;) 84km takes anywhere from about 3 hours to 5 hours on the mountain bike, depending on the country- dirt roads are a lot faster than steep washed out firetrails in the mountains :)
