Recycling of used Solar Batteries

Postby SUNLABOB_Dennis » Fri Mar 17, 2017 2:26 pm

Hi Community,

I try to find recycling companies in Australia for lead carbon batteries. I already contacted some companies over the Australian battery recycling initiative but was unlucky so far. Has someone here experience in this or could recommend a company?
Looking forward to hear from you,

Dennis

Welcome to the Energy Matters Forums Dennis.

Any metal recyclers will take Lead-acid batteries to recycle for the Lead. Prices paid vary a lot though.

Below is a rough guide (prices varies as the market price fluctuates day by day but its in the ball park) Don't let anyone rip you off the Lead in a large battery bank has significant value. You wont get the price of pure clean lead but I think about 50cents - KG was what I got last year.

Metal Type Scrap Metal Prices Australia
Copper $4.00 to $6.00 per Kilo
Mixed Copper $5.00 to $7.00 per Kilo
Copper Wire $1.50 to $2.00 per Kilo

Mixed Brass $2.50 to $4.50 per Kilo
Stainless Steel $0.75 to $2.00 per Kilo
Iron $0.08 to $0.16 per Kilo
Titanium $2.80 to $4.00 per Kilo
Gold $16.00 to $50.00 per Gram
Silver $0.26 to $0.52 per Gram
