Perhaps just a coincidence but some odd signal behavior today.
Woke up today and my daughter mentioned that there was no TV reception. Complaining that the only channel to work was the ABC channels. I made the joke to her that that's fine as we can just watch ABC news 24 all day ...didn't go down to well.
I wasn't to fussed as every now and then (a few times a year for a few hrs) we get a period where a few channels will show no signal. It would happen in the evening just for a few hrs. Then later that night or the next morning it's all back to normal with a perfect signal.
I just put it down to certain atmospheric conditions or a thunder storm between us and Brisbane.Jumping on BOM usually showed a storm between us. Typically the reception is very solid on all channels and the above issue was a rare event.
What made today different was the mobile reception. I noticed my phone was showing low 82 to 87 for the reception strength. about 4 out of 5 bars. I looked at my wife's phone and it was showing full 5 bars. It's never shown this before the signal strength is typically 104 at best and 107 - 112 average (about 1 bar)
Then a short time later as we were marveling at out new found signal strength. Then I noticed my phone was then showing no signal at all. The phone signal came back on again but to it's normal 107 signal strength. Then 20 min later all the digital TV channels started to work again.
Perhaps Telstra were messing about with things . Not sure if it was having a impact on the digital TV reception or just a coincidence. Though it's odd to have the TV reception issue in the day time on a clear, windless day with no storm activity.
Was nice to see 82 (4 bar) signal strength even if it was short lived
