2 or 3 times a year Aldi have LED globes in their catalogue. Vastly cheaper than anywhere else. Many sizes and styles, and they have Standard Bayonets, ES, and small ES; small globes, larger ones, candles, various shapes etc. They also have some for downlights, but I don't have any downlights, so I'm not up with the details for those. So if you have light fittings which you can replace the globes yourself, it's worth waiting for these. If you don't get paper junk mail including Aldi catalogues, you can get on their mailing lists, and have the catalogues sent to your email (once a week). Those who know, rush in for these globes, so you do need to get there on the first day they are offerred (these days, either a Wednesday or a Saturday), but there will be some available on the next day or 2.
I still have a few CFLs sbout, in lamps which are put on for hours at a time, but replacing CFLs in places where they are switched on and off lots, eg toilets, stairs, is great - CFLs do not take kindly to frequent switching. In fact I think I've still got a couple of incandescents left too - places like the cupboard under the stairs - it gets turned on for 5 or 10 minutes about 3 times a year. Frankly, not worth replacing it with anything until it dies, but it will be a LED when it does.
