LED tubes would be better than strips.
The other option is 10 or 20W floodlights.
100W halogens have an efficacy of around 15 lumens per watt. There fore they will put out around 1500 lumens.
LEDs have an efficacy of around 80-100 lumens per watt.
A 20w led flood will put out around 1600 lumens.
An LED tube at 18 W puts out around 1800 lumens.
Either would be a good option. The linkable tube option would be the fastest and cheapest option
Some of my customers have used 1200 x 300 LED panels directly on the ceiling and they love them as they look like skylights
