A hundred big ones buys an awful lot of fuel.......

And they say recharging stations will come, eventually.
Too bad if you are stuck on the side of the road half way between Perth and Adelaide with a plug in your hand, and nowhere to plug it in.

Expensive compared to what?

The model S isn't competing with Holden commodores and Toyota camrys.

Its the kind of car you consider instead of a M5 series BMW($229,000), Audi S8 ($250,000 starting price!)or any other large fast luxury imported sedan and then some! Price a high spec version of any of the euro cars in Au and its actually very very good value if you're in the market for that kind of car

Its no shopping trolley when it comes to performance or taxi pack when it comes to features.

Redline: 16,000 rpm
Power: 416 hp @ 8600 rpm
Torque: 443 lb-ft @ 0 rpm

If your purchasing a 100 - 200k car your not going to be driving from Adelaide to Perth  Who would wast two days doing that when you can fly there in a few hrs  Anything over 1000km I fly as its just better value time and $.

Tesla install there own charing networks and with a 300 mile range you dont need a lot of them.

Going for a test drive in Feb, that's how busy they are since setting up shop in St Leonards. Seriously, you guys saying these things are for the "seriously rich" need to get a grip.

Queue the Top Gear theme music....

What could possibly go wrong.....

Actually, I recall that TG (UK version that is) did indeed "build" an electric car and put a generator in the back. Needless to say they ended up suffocating on fumes as the stove pipe used for the exhaust fell off, blocked or otherwise didn't work (can't remember exactly).
